What We Can Do
Delicate Minds offers a range of services, working with Children and Adolescents, Families/Carers and Educators. Our team of clinicians have a broad range of experiences and qualifications incorporating counsellors, behaviour specialists, social workers, art therapists, diploma qualified allied health assistants currently studying in the mental health industry and training facilitators.

Individual therapy sessions begin with initial consultations with either our Director and Clinical Counsellor, Cindy Newman, or our Social Worker Jaime. These consultations run through our therapy service and what we offer, discussions of any difficulties experienced with your neuro diverse child and your family.
Therapy intervention sessions are facilitated over 45-50 minutes. The sessions can incorporate parents/carers and can also include working with the therapist in parent consultations.
Delicate Minds service is to support, care and assist families and children in having a flourishing quality of life.

Group therapy is facilitated in and out of the clinic and incorporates social and emotional skills within a holistic therapeutic program, specifically catered for the individuals involved.
The therapist facilitates programs over a series of sessions either weekly or fortnightly. The programs allow for a minimum of 3 participants and a maximum of 5, to ensure individuals do not become overwhelmed.
Group therapy can be highly beneficial for children and adolescents to work alongside one another in building social emotional skills, peer based modelling and social skill practicing within the session. The therapist will suggest and organize the clients based on their needs and qualities to best cater for their wellbeing.

- Parent Support and Training nights involve our director Cindy Newman, Child & Adolescent Counsellor, running through a 2-hour session for parents and carers of neuro diverse children. Cindy offers guided support on a range of specific subjects including anxiety, emotional regulation, sensory overload, social skills and much more.
- Educator workshops are frequently available for Early Childhood Centres and Primary /High Schools who are looking to enhance their skills and knowledge of how autism and behaviours of concern present within their school setting.
Cindy ensures all educators are equipped with resources and methods to practice within the classroom and playground to strengthen their relationships with their students/children and care for their wellbeing.

Group Therapy
Children from Kindergarten to Year 6 are welcomed to join in a range of social skills programs.

Registering your interest does not form an obligation for participation in our programs/workshops, however, your interest can place you on our wait list for the next group. Group numbers are limited and dates will be finalised when sufficient numbers have been received.

Delicate Minds aims to care for all children and adolescents who are undiagnosed and diagnosed, ensuring each individual clients needs and wellbeing.
We understand that therapeutic counselling services are often not an affordable expense, therefore, private paying clients are welcomed to have conversations with our Director, Cindy Newman to organize a payment plan during times of need.
At Delicate Minds we are thankful for the parents and families of neurodiverse children/adolescents seeking support, recognizing their child’s needs for a healthy and happy life.

A diagnosis is required for all children and adolescents who are seeking financial assistance to access supports and services, including counselling.
Delicate Minds is an NDIS provider allowing or fee four service to be fully covered and invoices sent through to self or plan managed participants.

For consultations and specific appointments, Cindy and Jaime both offer telephone or zoom sessions when families/carers aren’t able to make the scheduled in-person appointment due to busy schedules. This can be arranged prior to the appointment, within a 24-hour notice period to change the appointment to online. This option can also be arranged as a full time service through initial consultation if families live rurally, parents work hours aren’t contending or aren’t able to attain a support worker.

Delicate Minds understands the difficulty in accessing services, when families and children need our specific help, it is vital to our team to successfully deliver our support these clients as best we can. Delicate Minds closely works in relation with a range of Support Workers who often are used as a form of transportation to and from appointments. This service is included in NDIS packages and can be arranged for independent payments based off our cost/pricing list. The organisation of a support worker when needed can be discussed at your next appointment with Cindy or Jaime or arranged for pre-existing clients via telephone/email.
